Pastor: Lloyd Sirmons
I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
It is an honor and privilege to be serving as the Pastor of Southside
Baptist Church. God is doing some wonderful things in the life of
our church family. Our church fellowship is a very warm, friendly,
and a very loving fellowship. If you are praying about, or searching
for, a church home I invite you to come and worship with us. We
would love to have an opportunity to meet and to worship with you.
About
Our Pastor
After
graduating from
Ware
County
High School
in 1993, and living for myself for a while, I realized my need for
a savior. While lying in bed one night, with my life spinning out of
control, I turned my life over to Christ, giving Him total control. God
changed my life that night. I moved to
Columbus
Georgia
in the summer of 1995 and began working on my undergraduate degree
from
Columbus
State
University. I got involved in the campus Baptist Student Union
(now
Baptist Collegiate Ministries) and began growing in my walk with the Lord.
In the spring of 1996 I answered “the call” and began doing student
ministry “part-time” (although there really is no such thing) while I
continued going to school. I graduated with my Associates in Applied
Computer Science and worked as a programmer for Total Systems and a
System’s Analyst for The Medical Center. I continued working
towards my bachelor’s degree, while serving in the student ministry
bi-vocationally. After six years of bi-vocational student ministry,
God began to deal with me about surrendering to full time ministry.
God opened the door for me to move back to
Waycross
,
Ga.
And serve as the Student Pastor at my home church, Jamestown
Baptist. After six wonderful years of ministry with
Jamestown
and twelve years total in student ministry, I answered the call to
the full time pastorate as God called me to pastor the
Southside
Baptist
Church
in
Waycross
. We are blessed with a wonderful church family and are
excited about what God has done so far and is going to do in the life of
our fellowship.
I met my
lovely wife, Wendy, at the Baptist Student Union on the
Columbus
State
University
campus. Wendy is a graduate of
Columbus
State
University
and has a B.S. in Criminal Justice. On November 21, after
dating for a little over two years we married. In November of 2001,
God blessed us with our first child, Grace. Grace was only 6 weeks
old when we made the move and started our ministry at
Jamestown
Baptist
Church
. Our second child,
Cortland
, was born on
July 25, 2003
. I am very thankful for the family that God has blessed me
with.
In His Grip,
Bro.
